Last week’s Crit did not go well for me. I started to realize that although I had been taking many photographs and getting used to the settings, I didn't actually know the technicalities between the settings and what they do to an image. I realized that I could not fully learn how to use a DSLR if I didn't understand how I was working it. This made me change my thought process and now know what I need to learn. This week I am going to do things a little differently. I am going to take my notebook out and record my experiences and errors step by step. By doing this I can take away more from my 1 day projects and will be able to constantly go back to them. I think that one of the reasons why this project hasn't been as beneficial to me as it can be is because I haven't been revisiting my errors which initially will help me move forward. The process will take longer but it will improve my knowledge.
This week I plan on doing a number of things. Firstly I will be researching the technicalities behind every button and my plan by the middle of the week is to have memorized these and keep testing myself. By the next group crit I hope to have a lot more of an understanding. I will be visiting places such as Temple Newsam, an abandoned village and a Kirkstall funfair. I will ask my classmates questions until I understand what I am doing as I feel that this is a great way to learn for me.
